While I had always been aware of the vast amount of Kikyou haters out there, I never realized how many anti-Kagome sites there are as well. It came to my attention when someone asked me to visit their site, and it turned out to be a Kagome hate site. I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But as I browsed through the site I couldn't help but laugh. Why someone would bother creating a site to simply bash a character is beyond me, but their reasons for hating her were just laughable. Again, I respect that everyone has their own opinion, but their reasoning was not reasonable at all.

Please note that "reason" is in quotations to further prove my point. I do not consider these to be valid reasons at all...

"Reason" #1: Kagome dresses like a slut.
Ok, this is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. First of all, it's her UNIFORM!! It's not like she had a choice in how short the skirt is. And as for her wearing the uniform outside of school, a lot of people do in Japan. I actually went to a uniform school myself, and we wore our uniforms out of school all the time. I don't really see how wearing a school regulation uniform can be considered "slutty".

"Reason" #2: She strings guys along.
Again, this is just plain wrong. Kouga loves her, but she has never given him any indication that she feels the same. In fact she straight out tells him she does not "belong" to him and that she already has feelings for someone else (InuYasha). Sure she's nice to him, but that doesn't mean she has feelings for him. And as for Houjo... The poor guy just can't take a hint.

"Reason" #3: She is unintelligent and immature.
This one really ticks me off. Kagome is NOT stupid. I'll deal with her school first. Of course she has poor grades, she is almost NEVER there. How can a person be expected to do well in school if they can't attend classes? As for her intelligence outside of school, I personally think Kagome is very mature and smart for a girl of her age. She is very perceptive of other people's feelings, and is able to clue in to what's going on.

"Reason" #4: She's too happy.
Ok, this is just plain ridiculous. What is wrong with a person trying to look on the brightside of a situation? I can count numurous times where Kagome was the one to cheer up another character when they were upset. Kagome realizes that sometimes things don't go the way you had hoped, and dwelling on them isn't going to change anything, so instead she chooses to see the good in a situation. I'd say that was a character strength.

"Reason" #5: She is useless in battle.
Alright people, try to keep this in mind: Kagome is a 15 year old student in modern Japan who is *suddenly* thrown into feudal Japan. Of course she isn't going to be magically skilled in battle! Kikyo had years to develop her archery skills, Kagome has had only a small amount of time. And as the series progresses, her skills increase. And yes, I admit, she does require InuYasha's help a lot of the time. Again, SHE IS A 15 YEAR OLD JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT!! I think she does extremely well considering her situation.

"Reason" #6: She is jealous of Kikyou.
Well DUH! Who wouldn't be in her situation? The guy she is in love with, and the guy who cares for her in return, still has feelings for his first love. I don't believe there is a person out there who can say that wouldn't bother them. But while Kagome is jealous, she has also accepted the fact that Kikyou will always have a part of InuYasha's heart. And instead of crying over it she tells InuYasha that she'll stay with him anyway. I think that takes a lot of maturity and a lot of love on her part. And yes, she still gets mad at times, but she always understands and forgives him in the end.

Alright, I could probably go on forever, but those are a few of the main reasons behind the anti-Kagome sites out there. Like I said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have yet to find anyone with a VALID reason for hating such a compassionate and understanding character.
